What the Writers Guild of America strike is all about...

ya know - as an artist i can totally appreciate this, the point and perspective.
Consider the issue supported on this end.

I completly agree with the writers, but I still wish they would get some more original ideas on TV. My only problem with unions is that the boring lame writers are going to get the same benefits as the great ones. But then the great ones would totally get screwed if they did not have the union. Such a double edge sword.

You go Letterman and Conan writers!! Leno writers just find other work, it is for the greater good.

The reason TV is boring and predictable has little to do with the writers and more to do with meeting audience expectations, which are determined by ratings and other metrics. Hollywood simply gives people what they want, or at least the masses what they want cuz higher ratings mean more ad sales at a higher cost. True creatvity involves risks that producers are not willing to take, and if something works well they keep doing it...which is why there is three CSI shows and only one farily decent one, though all rate well. If you want to change it, stop watching it....actually its kinda like the sub prime mortgage debacle, it worked so well for the big investment houses they just kept doing it and then it caught up with them. Such is the bastion of capitalism.
Hmmmm.... VERY interesting! All I know is that I REALLY, REALLY want to watch House and Office and I do like CSI (NY).
I support the writers completely. I hope the strike ends soon for their sake.
Go writers! Make 'em know what you're worth!

You all might find this poignant and funny.
